| Topic: Woodgrain | | Question | Basically we only use signfoam as substrate. As far as a pebble type background I don't really have any difficulties. The problem I am having is with a woodgrain look. At my disposal I do have a grain frame, but when I blast a blank it just looks like straight lines are being blasted into it. It definitely does not look like woodgrain. If there is any assistance you can provide it would be greatly appreciated.
| | Answer | To achieve a more realistic looking wood grain, just stretch a single
wire across two or three wires and attach with a small piece of vinyl tape
or thin gauge wire. Repeat this process many times across the entire
surface of the GRAIN FRAIM. The effect created when sandblasting will be a
"wild" cedar-like grain pattern. Knots can be added by simply spraying, at
close range, small dots of spray adhesive at random onto the surface of the sign. Let dry and sandblast. | Tech Support |
