Topic: A two-part isocyanate
Question
We intend to finish the Sign•Foam with a two-part isocyanate free gloss finish, what primer would you recommend that does not damage the material?
Answer
One of the exciting things about Sign•Foam is that it is highly chemically resistant. There is no paint or primer you can buy that will damage the material or attack the Sign•Foam in anyway. That being the case you have many options to choose from. The first choice is to find out if the paint you intend on using has a primer manufactured to go with it. If so this would be an obvious choice. If not, then you will want to choose a primmer that is chemically compatible with the paint you intend on using. With a two-part paint in mind you may want to check the automotive industry for primer. Napa auto sell a primer called 3252 Primer Surfacer, it has excellent filling and sanding qualities and should work well with the two-part paint you would like to use.
