| Topic: gold leaf | | Question | | I keep seeing a lot of carved signs using a bright gold finish in the lettering that seems to withstand the elements. I have been using one-shot, but the gold is very dull. Are all of these signs produced using gold leaf or is there a bright gold signfoam paint that is available? | | Answer | When you see real gold on a sign, you know it. There has been some effort made in duplicating this look in paint and vinyl, however, none have the brilliance or longevity of real gold. Sign•Foam, primed with Sign•Prime, makes for and excellent guilding surface. Although it does require some bit a practice learning to gold leaf in not particularly difficult. You may want to check www.letterheads.com for more instruction on guilding.
