| Topic: Maximum amount of bow | | Question | | I am new to routing HDU and have noticed a slight bow in a 15 pcf 1 1/2" sheet of Signfoam III that I recently purchased. The bow was very visible when I placed the panel on edge but, was less when laying flat on my router table. I use a "t-bar" clamping method rather than vacuum so, I was not able to hold the center down. This worked fine on one face (cup down) but my routing depth was slightly off when I routed the other side (cup up). What is the maximum amount of bow that I should expect in this material? | | Answer | The answer to you question is none. Sign•Foam3 should lay completely flat every time. Now as far as your particular situation is concerned there are some things we could look at. First, if the sheet was either stored or transported on its’ edge, it is will want to bow under its’ own weight. However, Sign•Foam has no memory to it and will not take a set. So should you receive a sheet that does not lay flat, lay it down on your shop floor for at least 24 hours. If the sheet flattens out, you have no worries. If the sheet remains bowed, at all, it is defective and you should contact your distributor for a replacement .
