Topic: West System adhesive
Question
I currently use West System adhesive products to laminate 1/2" Sign•Foam to MDO board. West System adhesives do not cure properly below 60 degrees. Can you recommend any workable adhesive products (besides Gorilla Glue - too messy!) to use in temperatures below 60 degrees?

Or, is there a density/thickness of Sign•Foam that is as strong as a combination of 1/2" Sign•Foam and 1/2" MDO?

Also, I think it would be great if Sign Arts made a laminated product using Sign•Foam and MDO board.
Answer
After much searching, we could not find an adhesive that had a operating temperature below 60 degrees. Some adhesives may work but I would not trust any glue bond made in such conditions. You may have to warm the room, or wait for spring.

You may also consider moving away from MDO altogether. Sooner or later and most likely sooner, the MDO will begin to warp or bow, and when it does, it will take the Sign•Foam along for the ride.

Alumilite is far more stable and quite a bit stronger as well. 1/4" Alumilite will withstand wind loads up to 100 miles per hour.
